Good to go this month

The quiz matches you on style. This matches you on timing. It reads your device clock and updates itself, so it should never be telling you to visit Iceland's highlands in January.

Reality check

What will it actually cost?

Question three of the quiz asks for your daily budget, and most people guess. Put real numbers in here instead, then go back and answer it honestly. The match gets noticeably better.

Sets a starting daily spend per person. Change it below if your trip is different.
Beds, food, transport, activities.
Insurance, visas, transfers, kit.
Indicative defaults, not live rates. Put your own in and the conversions follow.

Quiz FAQs

What it does, what it doesn't, and how much to trust it.

How does the quiz actually work?
Each answer you pick carries a small score for the destinations it suits. Picking "wild nature and adventure" adds points to New Zealand, Iceland, Australia and Canada, and nothing to Singapore. After seven questions we add it all up and show you the three highest scorers. There is no machine learning and nothing clever going on, just a scoring table we wrote by hand and adjust when a result looks wrong.
Why is my top match not 100%?
Because a real 100% would mean one single country was the best possible answer to all seven questions at once. We ran every combination of answers the quiz can produce, all 20,480 of them, and exactly eight of those land on a true 100%. The percentage compares your winner against the highest score anyone could theoretically have scored from the answers you gave, so it is a genuinely hard number rather than a flattering one. Anything above 70% is a strong fit. The typical result sits in the mid fifties, which means your answers pointed in more than one direction and the runners-up deserve a look.
What if I disagree with my result?
Take it again and answer the budget question honestly, because that is the one people fudge. It carries a lot of weight, and saying "no limit" when you mean mid-range will push you towards Iceland and Singapore every time. The budget calculator on this page gives you a real number to work from. If you still disagree, the runners-up are usually the better fit, and the full list of all 21 is on this page too.
Can I save or share my result?
Yes. The share button copies a link that opens straight on your destination, so you can paste it to whoever you are travelling with. The link carries the destination, not your answers, so nobody can reverse-engineer what you picked. Bookmark it and it will still work later.
Is anything stored about me?
No. The quiz runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent anywhere, nothing is written to your device, and there is no sign-up or email gate. Refresh the page and it forgets everything.
How much should I budget for a trip?
Work from a daily figure rather than a total, because the daily number is the one you control. As a rough guide, backpacking runs around £45 / €52 / $60 per person per day, mid-range about £90 / €104 / $121, comfortable around £160 / €184 / $214, and beyond that you are choosing rather than budgeting. Multiply by nights, add flights, then add a line for insurance and visas. The calculator on this page does exactly that. Prices correct as of September 2026.
Do you only cover these 21 countries?
Not remotely. The quiz uses 21 because that is enough to give a meaningful spread without the scoring turning to mush. The site itself covers 34 countries in Europe alone, plus hubs across Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania. If your result is not on the list, start from the destinations page and browse by region instead.
When is the best month to take the trip?
It depends far more on where than on when. April, May, September and October are the shoulder months for most of Europe and much of North America, with better prices and thinner crowds than the summer. Southeast Asia and the Caribbean flip the other way, running dry and busy from November to April. The panel further up this page reads the current month and shows which of the 21 suit it right now.
