Previously, members earned Tier Points based on the distance flown and the class of travel. Under the new system, Tier Points will be awarded based on the total eligible spend on flight tickets and qualifying add-ons. Since taxes and airport fees don’t count towards eligible spend, and these often constitute a significant portion of economy fares, the Tier Points earned per flight may be lower than before.
