1. The Iconic Three Peaks Challenge

Difficulty: Challenging – Distance: 24 miles (39 km) – Time: 12 hours

Fancy testing your mettle? The Three Peaks Challenge is the granddaddy of Yorkshire Dales hikes. This gruelling trek takes you up and over Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, the three highest peaks in the Dales.

Top Tip: While traditionally done in under 12 hours, take your time and spread it over a weekend to truly soak in the magnificent views.

  7. Stay Hydrated: Carry plenty of water, especially on longer routes.
  8. Emergency Contact: Let someone know your planned route and expected return time.
