Step into storyland. This sandstone escarpment is laced with easy trails, broad views over the Cheshire Plain and folklore about slumbering knights and hidden treasure.

- Walk the Wizard’s Well and Stormy Point loop (about 1 hour, gentle with a couple of short steeper bits)
- Pause for the panoramic viewpoint over farms and far-off Welsh hills
- Hunt for carvings and old mine remnants on the woodland paths
- Pop into the village high street after for a coffee and pastry
💡 Good to know: Paths can be muddy after rain. Trainers with decent grip will do, but hiking shoes are comfier.

- Join a short house intro to decode the quirky architecture
- Wander the Long Gallery and spot the famously sloping floors
- Circle the moat and herb garden for photos
- Finish with tea and a scone in the café because… obviously
💡 Good to know: It’s a National Trust property with timed entry on peak days. The uneven floors are part of the charm, so watch your step.

Mow Cop Castle: A dramatic folly perched on a hilltop, straddling the Cheshire–Staffordshire border. It looks medieval but was actually built in the 1700s as a romantic ruin. The views over the plains are huge, especially at sunset. 🌅
Tatton Park: Deer park, mansion, gardens and big open skies. A classic Cheshire stately stop if you’ve got time. 🦌
Quarry Bank (Styal): Industrial heritage meets riverside rambles. Once a working cotton mill, now a National Trust site with fascinating stories and walks by the River Bollin.
Macclesfield Forest: Perfect if you fancy a wilder, longer afternoon walk. Reservoirs, moorland trails and peace away from the crowds. 🌲
